Tasman Evaporator III
Key Elements:
• 133,000 man hours completed on the job
• 25T of spooled stainless and carbon piping installed
• 100T of structural steel
• 90T of product vessels installed and commissioned. 3 off.
• Insulation of vessels along with all steam piping
• 80T of lamella heating elements to be joined and installed
• 9 hydro tests completed and passed
• 12 months duration from start to finish
Challenges:
• OJI procured vessels offshore along with structural support pedestals. These did not comply with NZ Seismic requirements. PFS carried out extensive stiffening bracing and upgrades to the pedestals
• Geotechnical issues delayed the start of the works after PFS had mobilized a large team to install spooled piping. A positive solution was reached with the team used on extensive work upgrading other parts of the plant.
• To optimize off site work on the free issue gear, before work could commence on site, OJI set PFS up in a large warehouse in Kawerau. . This enabled PFS to expedite this work k concurrently with pipe spooling in PFS shop
