Lichfield Steam and Condensate piping system.
PFS and GEA have been working together from October 2015 through till June 2016 to install a full high and low pressure steam system into Fonterra Lichfield’s new dryer facility in the South Waikato.
Coordination of this project was a challenge from a programme and logistical perspective. Numerous disciplines across multiple levels in each area of the building meant working closely with other suppliers involved in the project. Because of this, regular communication became an even more crucial element in ensuring everything went to plan. PFS worked very closely with GEA design engineers to interpret their 3D model of the building and process equipment.
The level of detail in the model was critical for each component of the facility to fit. PFS provided a turnkey solution spooling all of the pipework in their 30,000 square foot factory in Hamilton. The pipe work was carefully selected for site fit with both stainless and carbon disciplines throughout the building, this required specialist welders to cover both aspects. PFS installed valves and sender units to control steam flow and direction. This was finally followed by a detail quality package delivered on completion of the last steam component complying with ASME and client standard.
High safety standards on the site were supported by PFS, including participation in weekly safety walks alongside other contractors to help each other identify hazards and improvements.
