Maintenance | Waste and Water Pluto Onshore LNG Demin Water Plant

Supply, fabrication, assembly and testing of a skid-based Demineralised Water Treatment Plant to the Onshore Pluto LNG site, Woodside Burrup PTY Ltd.

Fifteen skids in total with additional interconnecting pipe work and pipe racks. Skids were completed in our Hamilton workshops and transported to the Port of Mt Maunganui and shipped to Karatha on the Burrup Peninsula, WA.

Demineralization is a common process used in chemical, petrochemical, oil refining, semiconductor manufacturing and utility plants.

The process uses several process (Cation exchange, Ion exchange, reverse osmosis, filtration) to remove salts, minerals, metals and dissolved solids. PFS Engineering supplied, fabricated, assembled and tested the following skid based Demineralization plant.

Process skids and operations as below (2 train process):

 

  • Pretreatment - 1x45t skid with 8 pressure vessels fabricated to AS1210. 4 Weak Acid Cation pressure vessels and 4 multi media filtration presure vessels, pneumatically actuated valves, 316SS pipe work to AS4041 and instrumentation.
  • Backwash - 1x7.3t skid with FRP tank, 316SS pipework to AS4041 manual valves and instrumentation.
  • High and Low pressure feed pumps - 2x17t skids with FRP feed water tanks, CO2 removal process (FRP degasser towers) pumps, pneumatically actuated valves and associated instrumentation.
  • Reverse osmosis - 2x5t skids. 316SS structural steel with 6off reverse osmosis pressure vessels connected using Victaulic couplings, 316SS pipe work to AS4041, pnuematically actuated valves and associated instrumentation.
  • Polishing - 2x15.4t skids with 2 Ion Exchange vessels per skid fabricated to AS1210. 316SS pipe work to AS4041, pnuematically actuated valves and associated instrumentation.
  • RO clean in place - 1x3.4t skid with FRP storage tank and heater, 316SS pipe work to AS4041, Pneumatically actuated valves and associated instrumentation.
  • Sulphuric dosing and storage tank - 1x1.2t skid. 316SS structural fabrication. Exotic metals used for certain pipe spools included SAF2205 Duplex, 904L and 316SS fabricated to AS4041. Carbon steel sulphuric acid storage tank fabricated to API650-2.5m dia x 3.2m high.
  • Casutic dosing and storage tank - 1x1.2t skid. 316SS structural fabrication. 316SS fabricated to AS4041. Carbon steel Caustic storage tank fabricated to API650-2.5m dia x 3.2m high
  • Antiscalent dosing - 1x0.4t skid with process tube configuration using Gyrolock 316SS compression fittings. Included 3 dosing pumps and associated instrumentation. Also included small 316 stainless steel tank fabrication.
  • Sodium Metabisulphate Dosing - 1x0.4t skid with process tube configuration using Gyrolock 316SS compression fittings. Included 3 dosing pumps and associated instrumentation. Also included small 316 stainless steel tank fabrication.

Andritz Oy | Pulp Mill Services

"PFS have recently undertaken the fabrication and installation of a Recovery Boiler air system upgrade at Carter Holt Harvey's Kinleith Pulp and Paper Mill in New Zealand for Andritz Oy of Finland. This work included the installation of new boiler waterwall panels, ducting and piping.

There were nine new waterwall panels installed, each consisting of six tubes 63.5 mm 00, and so in total there were 108 site welds required. Recovery boiler tube welds are 100% radio graphed and inspected to a very exacting specification. PFS achieved the unusually high standard of zero failures, which is a result they can be proud of. This is equal to world best practice. PFS manufactured and installed the ductwork including the three sets of aerofoil flow meters. This was a challenging job with tight tolerances and was well done.

We found PFS reliable, well organised, honest and easy to do business with. Their safety systems were very good. They achieved the critical time schedule required and with consistently good quality. We would be pleased to work with PFS again."
